African Agricultural Capital (AAC), the first agribusiness investment fund dedicated to providing affordable and flexible capital to agriculture-related Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in East Africa, announces the exit of its portfolio company Amaranth International Ltd (AIL) through a buyout of equity stake by the existing shareholders.

In collaboration with Dutch development organization SNV, AAC is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $55,000 to design and implement a corporate governance toolkit for SGB’s in East Africa. AAC and SNV agree that corporate governance is an issue of critical importance for the development of the SGB sector in the region. |

After nearly six years as AAC’s first Chairman, Hatim Karimjee retired from the AAC Board following the company’s Annual General Meeting in Kampala on 7th April 2010. Mr Karimjee provided outstanding leadership to AAC in guiding its development from a concept to a fully-fledged Investment Company, and laid the foundation for AAC’s future growth. |
